We really enjoy this brew in afternoon,

We really enjoy this brew in afternoon, early evening. Sitting on deck watching sun peak through the clouds and geese on the lake, cats and puppy playing in the yard. Relaxing brew.

Wonderful nutty roast - stronger flavors.

This review is for the Gold Coffee Co. Brunella Premium Blend | Medium Roast, Whole Bean version. As a coffee fanatic, I was quite excited to try out these beans and suffice to say, I am quite happy with the flavor and taste profile after a couple pours. My method of brew is via a Moka pot and these beans produce a rich and nutty flavor consisting of hazelnut and slight hints of caramel and chocolate. It makes a wonderful espresso and is easy to drink and out of the bag, they are a lovely color with a gorgeous smell to boot.I saw a review somewhere that said these beans tasted burnt, and that was not my case at all. It is definitely on the more intense flavor profile of a medium roast and even bordering on dark with a fairly strong flavor, but it was definitely not burnt in my case. It was easy to grind, smelled phenomenal and was overall a joy to try. During brewing, I found no issues and it smelled wonderful. I would certainly try different varieties from this brand in the future.

Two thumbs up from my husband and me

I usually prefer darker coffee, and my husband tends to like a light roast, so while we are always looking for a medium roast that we both enjoy, it's easier said than done. This one fits the bill though; we both think it tastes great. After I ground the beans and made a couple sample cups, I was initially worried it would be too rich for him, but it turns out it was just right (and I didn't tell him ahead of time what level roast he was getting). Neither of us noted any bitterness (I should note we both like a generous amount of creamer in our coffee). It was definitely bold, but still smooth. Would recommend and would order again.

strong roast flavor for a medium roast, could be a bit smoother

This coffee smells fresh out of the bag. There are no twist ties or ziploc so I have been using a banana clip to keep it fresh between brews. The beans look like a medium roast and are not overly oily. After my machine ground and brewed the beans using a drip style preparation, I noticed that this coffee tastes quite roast-y to me even though it is a medium roast coffee. It is not overly bitter or acidity, but it does seem to have some sharp notes. It is not overly smooth. I can detect nutty flavor notes but no sweet flavor notes in this coffee. It is decent but not among my favorites.

Robust medium coffee - makes a good mild espresso or americano

As others have noted, the roast is on the dark side of medium. Because it doesn't look like other reviews tried this as an espresso, I used the fine espresso grind and made my type of espresso/Americano from it. My espresso maker is DeLonghi, single maker, and I usually make it in a larger style espresso cup. Its similar to an Americano (very hot water shot through concentrated/packed grounds and adding more hot water). These beans made a great medium espresso / hybrid americano -- very smooth and flavorful. The beans had a delicious and robust smell when opening the package. They seemed very fresh. The package does not have a reseal/closure option, I will store them in a ziplock bag.In terms of value for your money, $12 for 12oz coffee beans is on the high side. They had a 6 pack which was better pricing, as is buying direct from Gold Coffee Company. Their 6 pack on Amazon was around $50 coupon price for a pack of 6 -- that would be a great deal at around $8 per pack.

Bold Flavor

These Brunella coffee beans are pretty good. They have a nice color and ground up smoothly. The flavor is pretty bold and strong, with just a touch of bitterness. When I sipped it lukewarm and without cream, I could taste slight chocolate undertones. Overall, this brews a solid cup of coffee and the price isn’t bad. Gold Coffee Co seems like an established, reputable brand and I would recommend this product.

Bold flavor

The Gold Coffee Co. Brunella Premium Blend whole bean medium roast coffee makes a great tasting cup of coffee. There is a terrific aroma when opening the package. I wish the bag had some way to reseal it to stay fresh, as there is little room to fold and clip it after the first use.The beans are roasted more to the edge of the medium-dark level, with a little bitterness to the coffee, and I would have preferred a true medium roast. Using a french press method, the hot coffee has a full-bodied flavor and is enjoyable. I recommend these beans as they are high quality and freshly roasted, especially if you prefer a dark roast.

Premium Arabica Excellence - Medium Roast Whole Bean Blend

Gold Coffee Co. Brunella Premium Blend delivers exceptional quality for discerning coffee enthusiasts. This medium roast whole bean Arabica showcases careful sourcing and roasting expertise that elevates daily coffee rituals beyond ordinary grocery store options. The twelve-ounce bag provides generous quantity while maintaining freshness through proper packaging. The 100% Arabica composition ensures superior flavor complexity and smooth finish that cheaper robusta blends cannot match. Coffee lovers seeking café-quality experiences at home will appreciate the professional-grade results this premium blend consistently produces. The medium roast profile strikes perfect balance between brightness and body. The roasting degree develops natural sugars without creating harsh burnt notes that over-roasted beans exhibit. The flavor complexity reveals itself gradually, starting with initial brightness that gives way to smooth caramel undertones and subtle chocolate notes. The roast level preserves origin characteristics while developing satisfying depth. The balance makes this blend versatile enough for various brewing methods from drip to espresso while maintaining flavor integrity across preparation styles. The whole bean format provides maximum freshness potential and brewing flexibility. Whole beans retain volatile aromatic compounds far longer than pre-ground coffee which oxidizes rapidly after grinding. The ability to grind beans immediately before brewing ensures peak flavor extraction and aroma preservation. The bean quality shows in uniform sizing and consistent roast color throughout each batch. The visual appearance indicates careful quality control during sorting and roasting processes. Whole beans accommodate different grind preferences from coarse French press to fine espresso, allowing customization impossible with pre-ground options. The 100% Arabica composition demonstrates commitment to quality over cost-cutting. Arabica beans inherently contain less bitterness and more nuanced flavors than robusta alternatives commonly used in cheaper blends. The pure Arabica sourcing eliminates the harsh, astringent qualities that mixed blends often exhibit. The bean variety provides naturally lower caffeine than robusta while delivering more satisfying flavor complexity. The species selection reflects traditional coffee craftsmanship values over mass-market compromise. The absence of filler beans ensures consistent cup quality throughout the bag.The aroma immediately announces premium quality when opening the bag. The fragrance combines toasted nuts, caramel sweetness, and subtle floral notes that promise excellent brewing results. The scent intensity indicates freshness and proper roasting technique. The aromatic complexity foreshadows the layered flavor profile that develops during brewing. The pleasant smell enhances the entire coffee preparation experience, engaging senses before the first sip. The lingering aroma after brewing fills kitchens with inviting warmth that inferior coffees cannot replicate. The brewing versatility accommodates different preferences and equipment types effectively. The beans perform admirably in automatic drip machines, producing consistently satisfying pots without excessive bitterness. French press preparation reveals fuller body and enhanced mouthfeel that showcases the coffee's natural oils. Pour-over methods highlight bright notes and clarity of flavor. Even espresso applications yield respectable results with proper grinding and technique. This adaptability eliminates the need for dedicated espresso versus drip bean inventories, simplifying coffee management for households using multiple brewing methods. The value proposition exceeds expectations for specialty coffee at this price point. The quality rivals offerings from local roasters charging significantly more per ounce. The twelve-ounce quantity provides approximately two weeks of daily brewing for average consumption households. The price per cup undercuts café purchases dramatically while delivering comparable quality. The consistent batch-to-batch performance ensures reliable results rather than disappointing variability. The combination of quality and affordability makes premium coffee accessible for regular enjoyment rather than special occasions only.

Great smooth flavor

This is a whole bean coffee that you will have to grind yourself. It is a bit darker than most medium roasts I've had, but it has a smooth, dark taste that is not burnt or bitter. I definitely get the notes of chocolate and these beans brew a cup that I can actually enjoy drinking black.

Balanced Morning Medium Roast

Overall, I really like this Brunella medium roast whole bean coffee from the Gold Coffee Company. The beans arrived fresh, ground easily, and brewed beautifully when using the drip method. It’s rich and aromatic without being overly bitter. It is nice as a completely dark roast - or with some cream and sugar. It isn't a value option compared to others, but the quality and freshness do a decent job of justifying it. Very happy with it.

Nice medium roast coffee

The beans are evenly roasted and grind well. The coffee isn't too strong in any one flavor, with a little bit of dark chocolate flavor without being overly bitter.

Smooth and Balanced Morning Coffee

This Brunella blend has a really nice balance of flavor, not too dark or too light. I can taste a little caramel and hazelnut, which makes it smooth and easy to drink. It brews clean with no bitterness and smells amazing when it’s grinding. I like that it’s 100% Arabica and roasted by a family-owned company that handles everything in-house, it shows in the quality of each cup.

Very Full-Bodied Medium

This comes well-packaged in a bag. Right or wrong, I kept it in the bag, folded down and clipped shut. On opening, the beans have a great coffee smell. I had no problem grinding them in my small, electric grinder. The taste of the coffee is more bold than medium to me, with a touch of bitterness. This may be me, since I like the more milder-tasting coffees. I got a small taste of caramel, but no hazelnut, which I love. No sweetness, and I added some honey or hazelnut creamer when drinking this. The price ($12 right now) seems fair, and comparable to other same-type coffee.

On the dark side of medium.

Fresh roasted toasty smelling beans in a bag. It brews up beautifully in my french press and smells strong and delicious. I would rate this medium roast on the dark side. It has a bold flavor, and is not bitter but it's a bit dark for me.

Good taste, good value

I got the Gold Coffee Co. Brunella Premium Blend because I wanted to try a new medium roast whole bean coffee, and it seemed like a decent option at a fair price. The coffee has a strong aroma when you open the bag, and the flavor is bold with a bit of bitterness. I drink black coffee with nothing else added like 99% of the time and this feels more like medium-dark to me. I put the beans in an air tight container normally, but I also noticed that the bags do not release, so keep that in mind for anyone who uses the bag only. The beans were all evenly roasted and uniform in size, and they bloomed well during brewing, which shows they were fresh. Overall, it’s a solid and fresh whole bean coffee that works well. I’d say it’s a good value around $12 and worth trying if you like bolder coffee.
