Great in superauto espresso machines

These have the dark roast for espresso without excessively oily beans that can clog automatic grinders. Still seems to have good caffeine content for a dark roast.

Love the flavor!

When the product arrived, it still had nearly a full year of shelf life, which was great to see. Even before opening the bag completely, I could already smell the rich, smooth aroma of the beans. I noticed the beans are smaller than those from other brands I’ve tried, and they’re very easy to grind. The roast level is just right, and the coffee tastes just as good as it smells. I really enjoy this product. highly recommended!

Whole beans that make a nice ground cuppa - no bag reseal and higher priced

My husband and I are coffee snobs, so we are always on the prowl to try new brands, hence the reason I ordered this Lunesa PremiumDark Roast. FIrst off, the bean look fresh and smell wonderful when the bag is open. It's actually not as dark as some other name brands, but the taste is definitely bold like a dark roast. With that being said, it's not the most complex dark roast and would be considered just a basic go-to bean for us. It grinds well for both regular press and espresso grinds, and produces nice flavorful cups. My two negatives are that it doesn't come in a resealable bag, so you have to put it in a container upon opening, and the price is a few dollars higher than the name brand dark roasts at your super market.Overall, Lunesa provides a very nice dark roast bean for robust flavor, but the price is higher than its competitors so it's not something we would reorder again at that price point.

Fresh, solid dark roast

SummaryThis coffee came evenly roasted, uniform in size, and fresh enough to bloom well in a pour-over. The flavor leans bold and bitter with low acidity, versatile across brew methods from pour-over to espresso. At $11.24, it’s a good value, but the lack of roast date and origin details keeps it from standing out.ProsEven, consistent roast with fresh packaging.Works well across pour-over, espresso, and lattes.Bold flavor that holds up in milk-based drinks.ConsNo roast date or bean origin details provided.ValueAt $11.24 (time of review), the price is good for a fresh, solid dark roast. Why 4 StarsIt brews fresh and versatile cups, but without origin transparency or standout flavor, it blends in with many other dark roasts. How I Rate1 star – Useless. Doesn’t work or broke immediately.2 star – Disappointing. Works partly but poor quality or serious flaws.3 star – Adequate. Meets the minimum standard; neutral recommendation.4 star – Strong. Exceeds expectations in at least one area; recommend.5 star – Excellent. Exceeds expectations in nearly every regard; highly recommend.

Good coffee.

After 52 years of daily black coffee consumption, I know what I like. I am honest when evaluating my passion in life: coffee. This was a genuinely good cup of dark roast coffee, but not great; I tasted nothing to elevate it into a higher rating. In as sense, this was just not for me. Good, smooth-tasting coffee, but nothong I can't get here in my home city. Did I like it? Yes. Would I buy it again? No.

Bold and decadent dark Arabica roast

This dark roast whole bean brings a surprisingly smooth and balanced cup, with rich cocoa, toasted nut, and subtle notes of brown sugar. For $12, it's about a standard price for Arabica blend coffee. My gf says the full-bodied flavor is perfect for an evening pick-me-up.

Solid quality dark roast

This blend is a solid, well-balanced dark roast with a smooth flavor and nice aroma. It brews up rich and satisfying, but it didn’t quite blow me away compared to some other premium blends I’ve tried. Still, it’s a dependable, quality coffee that’s worth a try if you enjoy a classic dark roast.

Roasty cup

This is quite dark and bold. Lots of roast but I don't find it to be overly acidic. Once opened, I transferred it to an airtight container. I think that the flavor is fairly smooth and I enjoy the taste. I've also tried mixing this with a lighter roast to experiment, it turned out quite nice. I don't get any caffeine jitters afterwards and my stomach doesn't get upset, which has happened with a fair few coffees in my day. Overall a nice cup.

Smooth and balanced flavor, but not fair trade

This coffee is smooth, I usually prefer medium roasts but this dark roast is well balanced with nutty, cocoa notes. Overall the flavor is subtle and works great with our French press. It doesn't feel too acidic or bitter, and the price is decent too at $11.99 when I ordered. That said, the brand is not fair trade certified or otherwise sharing their sustainability and humanitarian practices which is something I look for in a coffee company, so I don't think I'll order this again.

Dark and bold

This was really tasty coffee. My husband drinks it black or with a small splash of cream while I like a good bit of milk. We were both pleased with this one. It's got a lot of body and had a richness that I appreciated. It felt really smooth and wasn't unpleasantly bitter or acidic. It had a lot of flavor. Overall, this delivered on what I am looking for from a coffee and I would order this again.

Better options for the price

Just OK. more of a medium roast than dark. Overpriced in my opinion.

Surprisingly fresh

I found this Lunesa Premium Blend dark roast coffee from Gold Coffee surprisingly fresh for a dark roast coffee. Dark roast is typically not my favorite as I find it tends to be overroasted and too smokey, and/or not as fresh as lighter roasts as the darker roasts seem to oxidise more quickly. In fact, when I first smelled the beans after opening the bag I was surprised that it was in fact a dark roast, but comparing the bean color to my lighter roast beans it is in fact darker, maybe just not black dark. Which was good news for me.I've heard that darker roasts are easier on the digestive system so try to drink it when I can and this goes down very easily. There is again no smokey flavor and I can detect no significant bitterness, but it also lacks the brightness and acidity of lighter roasts (that I love but don't always love me back) so clearly this is hitting that sweet spot in between.I like the price on this coffee too and feel it is comparable to what I normally buy in the grocery store when not on sale. Plus its so much fresher than grocery store national brand stuff and brought right to your door. It's a winner all around.

More like a medium dark and very smooth, excellent value.

This is more like a medium dark in boldness. It might even pass for a medium. I don't taste the typical burnt dark flavor that most dark coffees have. Which is great, actually. I don't like burnt coffee. This coffee is pretty decent. No burned anything. It's very smooth, too. There's no harshness, no pangs of acid or bright fruits hitting you. My soy milk dissolves into it easily and doesn't curdle, so it must be low acid. The flavor is a little different from what I expect, though. It's more like a hot chocolate than a dark espresso style coffee. Lighter and a bit sweeter. I like it, but I don't love it. I would want it more bold I think, while still not being burnt. I want deeper, richer flavor from it. But if this coffee was given to me, I wouldn't turn it down. It's good! For the price, it's excellent. Definitely try it. It might be one of your favorites, depending on what you like. For the price you can't go wrong.

Mellow (Whole Bean)

This makes a pretty good cup of coffee - a little on the mild side for dark roast, but it is very smooth. Not sure I buy into that notes of this and that flavor stuff, but it does have a hint of chocolatey flavor. Would be best for someone who usually goes with medium roast but wants to venture a bit more into dark roast for a change of pace - it's definitely not quite as strong as the espresso dark roast I usually use. Then again, I'm no coffee connoisseur so maybe this is what's to be expected for this type of dark roast. I was pleased with the results, though, even if it's a little weaker than my typical cup. Roasting was very even and consistent. Not in a resealable package, though I've always found the zip-lock stuff they use for this type of bag to be clumsy at best, so that may be more of a boon than a detriment. Bag clip will solve that problem easily. Price was reasonable for what you get; had a coupon on it at the time I ordered (nice).

Exceptionally smooth

I love a dark roast, but too often the beans end up slightly (or fairly) burned and acrid. Or way too acidic. This coffee is bold and strong with none of the downsides. It smells amazing, even better when brewing, and tastes even better yet.Sure, there is no roast date on the bag, but I'm not sure I care if it was roasted in May or June. As long as it isn't stale I'm going to enjoy drinking it.$11 for a 12oz bag is a pretty good price for beans this quality.

Robust and delicious and I don't care when it was roasted.

I respect that some folks are sincerely interested in small batch, artisanal coffees and delight in critiquing blends and roasts and countries of origin. But personally, I don't care about anything except how my mug of coffee tastes. Now and then I do like treating myself to a bag of fancy beans of what I call "weekend coffee", something special but not necessarily expensive. THIS coffee is definitely some special coffee. It's fresh, it's dark, it's robust and it's delicious black or with sugar or milk or both. The deeply fragrant aroma that wafted out as I opened the bag was all I needed to let me know these are some fine quality beans and I was in for a delicious cup of coffee. The smell of the beans being ground was like an expensive candle or wax melt and it got only better as it brewed, scenting my whole house. I brewed enough to have some to chill in the fridge and I had it later on ice and topped with whipped cream. Wow, just fantastic. Price is in line with other 12 ounce bags of 100% Arabica coffees so it's a pretty good value. There is a best by date of September, 2026, on the back of the bag but there is no "roasted on" date and I do not care. Delicious coffee.

Great flavor, but no roast date

I made this dark roast as espresso. Straight it has a very bold flavor without too much bitterness. I added frothed milk and a dash of stevia. It turned out wonderful. At a price of around $11 this is a good value for whole bean coffee. The only thing missing is a roasted-on date.
